Talk about audacity!
Sorry, but it takes a bit of audacity to try and piggy back on someone else's project. The Surratt Society has sponsored hundreds of bus tours over the escape route of John Wilkes Booth since the spring of 1977. We have also had other competitors (such as the Smithsonian) who have failed to make a go of riding our coat tails. But, this one takes the cake: https://www.tripadvisor.com/AttractionPr...yland.html
This ad advertises a private tour starting at $499 and up. I understand that it is designed for small groups, but we offer our tour for $85/person and have a special room rate arranged at a local, upscale hotel that is five minutes from Surratt House. I won't even mention the quality of our narrators! And, we let our participants order off the menu at a nice, riverside restaurant. We don't let them settle for a bagged lunch. When you first see this advertisement on TripAdvisor, isn't your first instinct to think that it is the Surratt House Booth Tour? I have filed a complaint, but I'm sure it isn't going to do any good. |

However, the form that I had to use asks for what date the reviewer went on this trip -- and it will be cold day in hell before I go on it. I tried slipping in one of the Surratt dates last year, but it didn't work. Therefore, I have not seen my "review" pop up. I have a suspicion that they have had no takers because we have had no group mentioning that they are doing this particular trip with DC Military Tours. BTW: It makes me further mad that they are focusing on getting military people to take their expensive tours. |

What can I say about the Surratt Society? That reminds me of a song:

I'm going to have to purge my cookies. That ad keeps popping up on websites I visit.
