A Budding Young Actress?
Several weeks ago, I received a call asking me to give a talk to a historical group in nearby Calvert County. I have now gotten out of the business of giving talks, so I asked Kate Ramirez of this forum if she would be interested in doing the presentation. Bless her heart, she was quite ready for it.

She had recently done a first-person presentation on Mary Surratt at Market Days in Port Tobacco, and she brought out the piece once again for this group. Her presentation was video-taped and now appears on BoothieBarn.com. Kate did a very good job of interpreting the feelings that many of us think Mary Surratt must have had as she awaited execution.

RE: A Budding Young Actress?
Since school is done for the summer, I was lucky enough to be the cameraman for Kate's presentation for the Calvert County Historical Society. She was given a very long round of applause for her performance which she wrote herself and performed here for the first time.

Here's the link to the video for those of you who are interested:

Kate, you did an outstanding job! The facial expressions, voice inflections, range of emotions, hand gestures, etc. all combined for a terrific performance. You really have a gift for this. Kudos on a job well done! Near the end it was suggested you have the ability and talent to do Mary Lincoln at Bellevue Place - if you ever decide to this please let us know! Once again I really enjoyed your amazing presentation.

I, too would like to see Mary Lincoln resurrecting at Bellevue! Unfortunately the sound of this video doesn't come over well on my device, but kudos to writing and performing all on your own. How long did it take to get all ready?

Thank you all for the kind feedback Smile

Eva, it took me about four days, one fully costumed, to write the script (and 10 minutes to get dressed) Tongue
