Upcoming Play
Surratt Society member Joanne Scacifero of Florida has written a play entitled "Somebody's Darling" which is going to be performed as a reading one night only on Tuesday August 14 at 7:30pm at the Players Theatre, 838 N. Tamiami Trail, in Sarasota Florida. Phone 941-365-2494. Tickets are $8. Their website is http://www.theplayers.org. It is one of six finalists in a competition, and if it wins, will be mounted as a full production in 2013.
The play is described as follows: "While the country mourns, and amid an atmosphere of fear and suspicion, three women who loved the assassin John Wilkes Booth, struggle through their own private grief and torment because of his deed." |

That does sound good! Hope it wins, I'd like to see it.
So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: Upcoming Play
There's always Surratt Conference 2014. I don't know how many characters are involved, the length of the play, etc., but we have done similar programs at earlier conferences - including one where Weichmann met Oldroyd. We have also had quite a few first-person monologues.

RE: Upcoming Play
Does this mean that Dave and I can sing "The Balld of Booth" from "Assassins" next year?! Or perhaps Booth's dialogue with Lee Harvey Oswald?!

RE: Upcoming Play
I haven't heard either you or Dave sing, so you will have to audition. If you're good, we'll consider the duet from Assassins. If you're great, we'll enter you in America's Got Talent.
As for Booth's dialogue with Lee Harvey Oswald, I'm not familiar with that - but it sounds like something Vaughn Shelton would write... |
