In my search for Sarah Slater, I ran across a Chapter in Lafayette Baker's "History of the Secret Service" that told of Surratt being I.D'd on a train that was traveling through New York State at the right time, direction and date to support his Elmira Story. He was traveling with an unidentified "Little Man". The little man was not allowed to speak. Surratt answered all questions etc. They spent the trip standing on the platform between the cars. Sarah was about 4'-10" tall. I believe that Surratt and Slater were in Elmira during the Assassination.

I had lunch with three local historians today and they confirmed the fact that John Surratt was in Canandaigua,NY at the Webster House Hotel! They both said that the Federal Government confiscated the hotel ledger at the time of John Surratt's trial.He did register as John Harrison,he also did that at his Montreal hotel.Is it possible that Sarah Slater went on to Montreal without him,or did she go to Canandaigua with him?
