Brief History of 19th-Century Theater
In searching for something else, I stumbled across this fairly short and easy to read history of 19th-century theater. I'll leave it to Tom Bogar to evaluate its accuracy, but it gave me some insight (I hope correctly) on a subject that I know very little about.

RE: Brief History of 19th-Century Theater
I took a look at the board you cited, Laurie, and it looks like good, valid information that he's posted for his students--kind of a general overview of material I used to teach in my American Theatre History course. It all seems pretty accurate. I would also highly recommend theatrehistory.com: http://www.theatrehistory.com/american/

RE: Brief History of 19th-Century Theater
Thanks, Tom. I got a kick out of learning about "claques."
