Lincoln events in Lansing, MI
The Historical Society of Lansing, Michigan has several Lincoln events planned for 2015, including speeches and displays from our own Rick Brown (historybuff22). They will also have talks by Tom Mudd, a great grandson of Dr. Mudd, and Steve Miller, an expert on "Lincoln's Avenger's" - the 16th New York Cavalry.
If you're in the area check them out: http://lansinghistory.blogspot.com/p/his...nsing.html I'm also hoping to get my hands on this somehow: "**In addition to the events listed below, the Historical Society of Greater Lansing is working with Mr. Craig Whitford, who will be publishing a thirty-two page booklet containing the content of the speech given by Luther Baker about his role in the capture of John Wilkes Booth in April, 1865. The booklet will also contain some period artwork and images pertaining to the chase for and capture of Booth, as well as images of Baker and his horse, Buckskin. Copies of the booklet will be available for purchase at most, if not all, of the below mentioned events.**" |

To view a short video of my Traveling Lincoln Assassination Museum that I will have on display in Lansing twice in April, go to:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCPl6KOZlSg The blog has the incorrect title for my presentation. It has "Lincoln's connection to Michigan." It is actually "Lansing's connection to John Wilkes Booth." To see a condensed version of this presentation, go to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkm6rdXW3Sw Rick Brown HistoryBuff, coim A Nonprofit Organization "Not everything you read on the Internet is true." RE: Lincoln events in Lansing, MI
Very nice Rick!
Baker must have been quite a character (scoundrel-?) I wish there was a more recent biography of him other than "Death to Traitors" by Jacob Mogelever So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |
