WW-2 Vet gets the Gold medal of honor!

I am pleased to announce that a WW-2 vet, that I have interviewed and been on a pannel with,just got the highest award for a civilian.He got the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor.He[94yrs old] was a combat photographer with Patton.The story that impacted me the most was that he stepped on Patton's foot and Patton told him to say excuse me.He excused himself and Patton told him it was about time.This vet's father[in the crowd] also saw Lincoln come through Rochester,NY on the train in 1861.

Hi Herb. I may have posted this a few years ago, but here's the way the Rochester train station looked in 1861. Lincoln never got off the train and spoke briefly from the platform of his car. This was the morning of February 18, 1861. The estimate was that 30,000 people crowded the depot and surrounding areas when Lincoln's train arrived at 7:40 A.M. Additionally, there was a locomotive change at Rochester.

Thanks Roger,The Lincoln train stopped about 500 yards too far from the station.A 9yr old boy shook hands with Lincoln and a small crowd gathered to see him.He must have been in that small crowd in Rochester,NY in 1861.
