RE: Lincoln statues around the world
Dave, I spent some time searching for a Lincoln statue in Guatemala. I found a page that says there is one located there, but it contained no information/photos, etc.

http://internationallincolnassociation.org/Legacy.aspx

Other than that one page I could not find anything.

I have written the International Lincoln Association seeking its source for this information about the statue. If I receive a reply, I shall post.

I wonder how many Lincoln statues there are worldwide? Is it safe to safe that he has the most?

Many thanks to Anita for sending these photos. She was traveling through Tijuana on a bus, and she took these photos of the Abraham Lincoln statue there. The window was tinted and the bus was moving - kudos, Anita!

Wonder how tall just the statue itself is - without the base?

RE: Lincoln statues around the world
Since I took these photos I've been reading up on Lincoln and Mexico. It sure surprised me and made my day to see him honored in Tijuana.

"En México tenemos un monumento del presidente Norteamericano Abraham Lincoln, en Tijuana, por qué?, aquí la respuesta. (In Mexico we have a monument of the North American president Abraham Lincoln, in Tijuana, why? Here is the answer.)

Actually, statues of Lincoln are found in parks throughout Mexico–particularly in major cities such as Tijuana, Juarez, Guadalajara, and Mexico City –and many schools are named after him. The reason he is honored in Mexico as perhaps the most respected US president is that he opposed the Mexican-American War as a Congressman, and supported Mexico’s fight against European occupation forces in the 1860s as President. And in the United States, statues of Mexican president Benito Juarez are in some cities, including San Diego. The two presidents shared a mutual goal of making Mexico and the USA good neighbors." https://lincolnandmexicoproject.wordpres...m-lincoln/

Many thanks to David Lockmiller for sending these photos of the Lincoln statue outside City Hall in San Francisco. David writes, "The sculptor, Haig Patigian, was a largely self-taught artist, but is really very good, and I thought that you might like to see the photos. It is a different pose than that of the Lincoln Memorial. It is like Lincoln is talking thoughtfully with someone right next to him. I think the sculpture captures both the physical and spiritual strength of Lincoln. These two photos were taken last Saturday, 8-18-2018."

What a great statue. The positioning of his hands and arms are impressive to me because they denote dignity somehow.

RE: Lincoln statues around the world
Here's a statue trivia question. This statue no longer exists. It has been gone a long, long time.

Where was the statue?

Hint #1: The statue was located in the United States. After a number of years a part of the statue fell off, and the statue was replaced by a new statue. After a number of years the replacement statue was destroyed. In truth, I am not sure if the photo is of the original statue or the replacement statue. In what city in the USA did this happen?

Nope, it was not NYC.

Hint #2: Try to think of things in American history that could have destroyed a statue.

RE: Lincoln statues around the world
Good thinking, Steve. You are absolutely correct. The replacement statue was destroyed in the great 1906 San Francisco earthquake. And many thanks to David Lockmiller for sending the photo I posted.

There is information on the statues here:
