Violence at a camp!
As you know-I was in public education for 35yrs [now retired].Today-took"The Cake".I was teaching-Life Skills-and talking about Lincoln. Then a gang came in and attacked, beat kids and destroyed car windows. The Rochester,NY-Police came[6 cars].No arrests were made-I was astonished and [honestly affraid].This camp was run and organized by an NFL player and Super Bowl Champion. He is a former player from here.I am fed up and frustrated! My speciality has been-history,"at-risk"youth,and athletics.I am finished! These gang members have no respect for anything. This incident was Not on the news today. This is one big "cover-up".Sorry for this, but I must vent.

RE: Violence at a camp!
I'm sorry for you and the kids you're trying to help.
Your involvement in your community is encouraging to all of us who know about it.

Wish there was something I could say to help, just know there are some who value and have a high regard for you, and appreciate your spirit of giving to others.

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

OH. MY. GOD...!! I don't blame you for being frustrated and angry..these gang members behave like savages. They have no respect for anything and have been seemingly stripped of all humanity at times.

Sorry it happened, glad you are safe! (HUGS)

Herb, m'dear!

I'm so very, very sorry that this had to happen. I know it's disheartening - and very frightening! But please keep in mind that what you've done and accomplished is very, very wonderful....

I think that this is just the world we live in now. Unfortunately, some folk just don't get it - and because they're unhappy they have to make everyone else unhappy!

Please just hang in there - we all admire you greatly!

Herb: thanks for sharing this. We are glad you are safe. You survived your war service only to face violence here at home.

I can only add more kind thoughts to what our colleagues have said above, Herb. You are a special person who has given a lot to your country, former students, your community, and us. There is no rhyme nor reason, IMO, for the actions being displayed by so many throughout our country today. Violence is their name and destruction is their aim -- for what purpose?
