| A Tidbit of History from Mississippi
Danny West, a member of this forum, just sent me some interesting items on Civil War history in his neck of the woods - Mississippi. I'd like to share the most detailed one with y'all: http://mshistorynow.mdah.state.ms.us/art...-civil-war This one will tell more about Fort Massachusetts - and remind you of Fort Jefferson. You'll love the quote from one officer: "This is a hell of a place to send 2000 men 3000 miles by ship to a sandy strip." Or words to that effect: http://www.msshipisland.com/?q=fort Also, try this: http://www.nps.gov/guis/historyculture/f...usetts.htm Thanks, Danny, for sending these. Stories of Civil War soldiers are very appropriate on this Memorial Day.

Facinating! Thanks Danny and Laurie.... Fort Massachusetts most certainly does look too much like Fort Jefferson! "The Past is a foreign country...they do things differently there" - L. P. Hartley
