Civil War Benefits Still Being Paid
I hope you can see this link without having to penetrate a paywall. It's about the Civil War veteran's benefits the VA is still paying to a lady whose father fought in the war:

I saw that story today and was shocked. I never would have guessed someone is still receiving a pension from their parent who fought in the war. Sure was a good read.Shy

As of October 2013, the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War ( of which I am a member) has documented 26 living sons and daughters of Union veterans. There is more than one widow listed also. It doesn't say anything about pension status.

Anybody here ever see the TV movie, 'The Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All'??
Based on the fiction book of the same name.
Its from the early nineties and still pops up on cable.
Stars Diane Lane and Donald Sutherland-worth a watch

Here is a small clip from the movie
(nice music) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zjy4Um643rE

The film won a couple of Emmy awards. At the time, I wasn't that impressed by the movie, but with the passing of time I would like to see it again.

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

It's astonishing to imagine that there are any living children of civil war veterans....but a widow too??!

God bless her...she must be ancient at this point!
