RE: It's out of my hands
Keep the faith, Rob. Things will work out!

I may once have mentioned that I wrote computer programs in my spare time beginning in 1986. For two years....1986 to 1988....all I received were rejections from multiple companies. Finally, in 1989, a company called Softdisk took a liking to my stuff and published 24 of my computer programs between 1989 and 1994. They were written for Commodore 64s. I felt blessed, but I haven't forgotten all those rejections, either.

Thanks guys. The one thing that bothers me is there was no feedback. It would have been nice and might have helped me to correct whatever it was that he didn't like. Oh well.

IMO, they had already decided what they were going to publish for the next year or two before they received your manuscript. They didn't have it long enough to have given it serious consideration. And they do have serious budget problems

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

RE: It's out of my hands
There's no question that budget problems permeate the entire state, and I can understand that whatever the press believes to be the most likely to sell has to be their priority, but your point about the length of time is what really irks me the most. I question whether they read my sample chapters or just the overview and table of contents. I imagine that another priority is to give academics preferential treatment over non-academics since their career advancement depends on getting published.

It will either get published by some press or it will sit in my closet.
