Nicolay is buried in Oak Hill in Washington, D.C. Can't remember the inscription. I always think of Hay as sort of the perennial Washington insider. He built a huge manion directly across form the White House on Lafayette Square. His next door neighbor was Charles Adams, son of John Quincy Adams. They eventually tore down both homes and the location is now the Hay-Adams Hotel.
