Many of my Civil War buff friends and others who aren't have seent the film and not one complained about the language in the film. I have heard rave reviews from just about everyone. As far as I recall, Lincoln doesn't say the "f" word in the film. The James Spader character says it after he has a gun drawn on him and maybe elsewhere. That scene is played more for laughs than anything, as it got a loud guffaw from the audience in the theatre I was in. (On another point, since he was so much in the film, the real Thad Stevens was supposedly a guy who could swear a blue streak when he got angry, which was frequently.) |
