Wink Guten Rutsch
The most common New Year's Eve wish and greeting in Germany is to have "a good slide" into the new year. Originally it derived from the Yiddish phrase “a git Rosch” (ראש השנה טוב), which means “a good beginning.” This is what I wish to all forum members and their families. Not only for me, but also for the world, first of all Ukraine, 2022 wasn't a good year, so all my best hopes and good wishes for 2023.

So, how will you spend New Year's Eve? We traditionally attend the opera, tonight the "Wizard of Oz". I especially love this song for Dorothy's line:

"With the thoughts you'd be thinkin'
You could be another Lincoln
If you only had a brain..."
