Thank you, Kate. I humbly say that I think I was a good teacher also! I truly believe that good teachers are born, not trained, and I was blessed with the instinct to be a good teacher.

I am now watching my own daughter be a marvelous teacher. She is a mentoring teacher, working with teachers who are struggling in the classroom. You can imagine that that does not sit well with some teachers who should never have been teachers; but they often fail to realize that, without help from mentors, they are likely to lose their jobs.

I am absolutely amazed at how good my daughter is! I was the one who wanted her to choose another profession. She started out as a kindergarten-2 teacher - something that I could never have been. Middle school or above is my cup of tea.

I'm very proud of her. My family has been held together by strong females. My grandmother had a sixth-grade education (and died worth a lot of money). My mother finished high school, but was not allowed to go on to college because college people get jobs and her father wanted no working women in his family. She died a millionaire.

I was the first to go to college, but quit with only three courses left to get my Master's because I fell for that old "you'll never have to work again" routine and got married. My daughter has completed her Master's years ago and keeps talking about getting a doctorate. My only grandchild is now scared spitless because he realizes the pressure of the doctorate degree is now on him!
