dicutionary.com defines "scheme":
noun (1) a plan, design, or program of action to be followed; project. (2) an underhand plot; intrigue. I think President Lincoln was a "planner" [definition 1) and Robert Burns was kind of "schemer" [definition 2] in my opinion.
