This is a bit different book on Lincoln.
It is written by an actor who portrayed Lincoln on stage and the movies, from a
1915 short movie, and several other movies as well as stage plays with considerable success, to a 1940 small role as Lincoln for a Lone Ranger movie. The book is part biography of Lincoln and part of the authors experience portraying Lincoln on stage and in film. He shares little details he learned about Lincoln that helped him portray Lincoln effectively on stage and screen. Mr. McGlynn's acting career spanned over 50 years.

The movie closes with the Gettysburg Address. The book has a short 3 page chapter on McGlynn's interpretation on how President Lincoln delivered the speech.

There is also a chapter in the book regarding the incident portrayed at the 9:30 minute mark, "Lincoln and the William Scott Case".
It's clearly evident that portraying Lincoln is more than just an acting job for Mr. McGlynn. It means much more to him than that.

It's an interesting book with a different perspective. I can recommend this one, it's not your typical book on Lincoln.
