I think he understood rivers very well, since he helped pilot a flatboat down the Mississippi River at least twice. He understood their power, that you could not take much for granted in trying to navigate, and you always had to be alert. His largest and probably most significant case as a lawyer involved a riverboat, and a railroad bridge over the Mississippi River. So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |
