Both my daughter and I have had training in teaching those with special needs, and letting them get away with inappropriate behavior is not on the approved list. I do not feel that Tad had significant special needs, but his being allowed to act out in an undisciplined manner only fostered more inappropriate behavior to the effect of modern authors and readers not knowing where the line was between his "needs" and his "wants" for attention, etc. |
