As for numbers of those fighting at Antietam, I certainly dont disagree with what you write David concerning Lincoln's wish for soldiers, but what that has to do with our discussion I'm not sure. The basic issue for me is that Union forces were about (obviously difficult to be precise) twice those of the South. Losses were greater for the North than the South. The South withdrew from the battle before the North. The North did not choose to pursue.

I think that you have been determined to show that Trump spoke inaccurately. In this case I think you're struggling.
I get the feeling that Pres Trump is likely to give you further and more substantial opportunities. Why not wait until then?
