A peek inside the Grants' Burlington home

Here is what Mike Kauffman writes in American Brutus. Grant was in Philadelphia in a restaurant when he received telegrams from Eckert and Dana informing him of the assassination.

"Grant did not want to create a stir, so he kept the news to himself. In a few minutes he handed the telegrams to his wife, and with hardly a word, they left for the Philadelphia-Camden ferry. From there, they continued to Burlington that night, and arrangements were put in place for the general's return from there."
