I just finished „Lincoln’s last trial” by Dan Abrams; it is a mix of a biography and novel concerning Lincoln’s last big murder court case before his election to the presidency.

The advantage to many other criminal cases that were recorded is that for this one a stenographer was present, whose papers have been found in 1988. After extensive research, his writings were put into the book mentioned and it was done in a wonderful way.

Wonderful writing with great research, lovely anecdotes added to the overall story and tons of information.
Every question that arose was answered immediately, as if the author could detect what readers would be curious to learn more about.

Apart from the joy of just sitting down with this book, I am once again on the research path to learn more about various stories mentioned. Thanks to online resources, I’m already knee deep into collecting more reading material.
