Yes, Mary was buried wearing her wedding ring.
As far as her diet plan . . . Mary did lose a lot of weight when she lived in France. She wrote to her nephew, Lewis Baker, saying that her current weight was 100 lb. Of course, this was during her widowhood, not her White House years.
