RE: "Stump the Yankee"
Boy, was I hoping Smyth wouldn't show up................
That's it Rich! After the assassination, a servant recovered the cup he saw Lincoln drinking from shortly before he departed for Ford's. It was found right where Lincoln left it - on a windowsill. The small china cup was given to Robert. He eventually gave it to someone, but I forget who. That leaves one item between me and a Yankee victory. Here's the last hint. Hint #3. I've never seen this item mentioned anywhere. It has stayed in the Lincoln family since 1865. Robert saved it because he was sure it was the last thing Lincoln used before he left.
