RE: Twelve Days of Xmas Trivia
Good reasoning, Mick, but kudos again, Laurie - you got my hints 100% correctly - it happened aboard the steamer "L'Amerique" that they got in touch because Sarah saved Mary when falling headfirst down a stairway during Mary's journey back to the US from her second trip to Europe.
According to her memoirs, Sarah Bernardt said: "You might have been killed, Madame." Mary replied: "Yes, but it was not God's will." Bernhardt later concluded: "I had just done this unhappy woman the only service I ought not to habe done her - I saved her from death." Mary disembarked almost unnoticed when huge crowds met Bernhardt on the docks upon the ship's arrival in NYC. "Lucky Luke" is a popular (Belgian I think) comic in Europe. Laurie: 4 Bill: 1 Dennis: 1 Gene: 1 Five Golden Rings - First five books of the Old Testament This gentleman is from a book I suppose only Dave Taylor owns despite me. Who is he supposed to be? Another point will score (s)he who specifies the scene/incident depicted. |
