Tradition Sarah & Abraham
Here in the Netherlands, there is an old but still active tradition; when a woman reaches the age of 50 years she becomes a 'Sarah' a man becomes an 'Abraham.
Looking at the background of the assassin John Wilkes Booth from which professor Stephen M. Archer gave, what I take, an interesting description; I noticed that in 1849 John's half-brother Richard Junius Booth married with one 'Sarah P. Ware' sounds like 'Sarah beware'. When John lost his father in 1852 his mother Mary Ann Holmes ( official Booth just a year before on John's 13th birthday) Mary was 50 years old. The assassination of 'Abraham' Lincoln was certainly a blow for Mary Ann. I wonder has America the same tradition of 'Sarah & Abraham'? Does anyone answer this? |
