I noticed that the first link is cut off and did not include that writer's opinion on what happened to the Hawaii Clipper. He was much more certain that the Japanese hijacked the plane, stole the information about the prized engines, executed the crew and passengers, and then sank the whole thing in a deep lagoon.

The second link gives more credence to other fates the plane might have met.

Between this story and Amelia Earhart's, maybe we should look for the lost Confederate gold in Asian waters?
