Marsha makes a good point about the Gurney photo, it seems unlikely he would be allowed to set up his camera and equipment without permission. It's not like he took out his cell phone and took a picture when no one was looking. He was well known in his day, it seems he may have had friends in high places in New York City (that does still happen today doesn't it?).
