Several months after the assassination John T. Ford agreed to sell Ford's Theatre to the U.S. Government for $100,000.
The purchase price was not paid immediately, and the government leased the building in the interim. In 1866 the Treasury paid Ford for his theater. Because of the lease payments the check was for less than $100,000. What was the amount of the check Ford received? |
