Those who have chronic medical illness seem to go one of two ways, I think. Some become bitter for what life has given them. Others achieve a state where they seem to have risen above it. Yes, they still get angry. Karrie was angry but she also did not let it become her. She always tried to "plant a flower." Heaven only knows how many she inspired along her journey.
I take my hat off whenever I meet or learn of people who put up with severe handicaps (hope this is not the wrong term and you know what I mean - "what life has given them"), humbles down.

In fact, it was our last opera together. We saw it at the Detroit Opera House in October 2015. She identified with the lead female character of the story (Mimi). Mimi falls in love abd then becames ill and tragically dies. Karrie made no secret that she knew she would be leaving us. We also saw The Magic Flute multiple times. She was quite pleased that Lincoln also saw The Magic Flute. Thank you for mentioning this Eva. And thank you everyone on the Forum for helping me through this most difficult time in my life.
"La Traviata" has the same story as "La Boheme"!
