RE: What would Lincoln say about the present day elections for President for 2016?
I came across this image on Twitter this morning. A supporter of Sen. Cruz posted it, I guess to indicate that being "mathematically eliminated" (that is, being unable to get enough pledged delegates to win nomination on the first ballot of the convention) is not necessarily determinative.
![]() This is how I replied: Quote:No primary elections in Lincoln's day. Main purpose of convention was to choose nominee from several viable candidates. https://twitter.com/OneLaneHwy/status/72...2630589440 I hope I was accurate. ![]() I have endured a great deal of ridicule without much malice; and have received a great deal of kindness, not quite free from ridicule. I am used to it. (Letter to James H. Hackett, November 2, 1863) |
