As many of you have already surmised, Tubman was not a Republican because she could not vote. In fact, she support Susan B. Anthony - who was a Democrat - and she cared deeply for Frederick Douglass and admired him - he was a Republican. Many of her Abolitionist friends would become Republicans. Naturally, the Republican Party of the 19th century is not the Republican Party of today. Tubman was probably quite upset by her Republican friends who decided to support the vote of black men but not women at all.
