RE: Springfield Tour
Only a week to go, and the weather forecast is looking great, with sunny days and highs in the upper 70's and lows in the lower 50's.
One of the fun stops we always make is a well known book store in downtown Springfield, Prairie Archives. They have books on all kinds of different subjects, and they have one of the best selections of books about Lincoln and the Civil War that I have seen in any one place. Their web site doesn't do them justice. While I really love a bargain, and get most of my book purchases over the internet, it's nice to see what your getting, and thumb through a book to see if it's what you really want. And then there is nothing quite like the aroma of an old book store. There are other interesting stores downtown too. Maybe purchase a treasure or two to take home to enjoy and remember. Then off to a nice dinner with pleasant companions and interesting conversations. Our love of history and Abraham Lincoln is the reason for it all. I can't quite explain it, but I also think it's the friends I've made, and the people I get to meet. It's just a special time. We hope a few more of you will come and enjoy this with us. So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |
