RE: Stump the German
Jim, it's always fun when you join in this trivia game, and I hope you'll come up with another guess.
Yes, Monopoly is played in Europe, just the streets have different names AFAIK. The poshest (most expensive) street is named "Castle Avenue", which makes sense in Germany, but maybe less in the USA. The streets on the German board are (literally translated): Violet (60€): Pool Street, Tower Str. Light blue (100-120): Chaussee Str., Elisen Str., Post Str. Purple (140-160): Sea Str., Harbor Str., New Str. Orange (180-200): Munich Str., Vienna Str., Berlin Str. Red (220-240): Theater Str., Museum Str., Opera Square Yellow (260-280): Lessing Str., Schiller Str., Goethe Str. Green (300-320): Townhall Square, Main Str., Station Str. Dark blue (350-400): Park Str., Castle Avenue I just noticed that Monopoly estate has become cheaper. When I played the game last time, the prices were in DM (German Marks), and the Schlossallee (Castle Alley) cost 1000 DM back then (which would equal 500€). Well, reality is different. |
