RE: Following Abraham Lincoln
Hi Gene
I have a copy of that book.
Years ago I was in the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop in Chicago and they had a series of slim volumes with absolutely gorgeous prints made from the etchings that Wall made. I don’t know if they had the complete set. If I understand correctly, there were less than 75 printed.
The book you have is very good. The original prints were amazing.
I looked up on ABEBOOKS (appropriate name) and found this description.
Wall spent a number of years scouting out the places that had been important to Abreham Lincoln. From 1931 to 1942 he published a series of eighty-five volumes with eight to sixteen plates each presenting his etchings of Lincoln and the places in his life . He originally planned to print seventy-six sets of the etchings . However , it seems unlikely that he reached this number. In 1943 he put the etchings together in this volume -- beautifully designed and printed . This is a unique interpretation of Lincoln and one that every collector of Lincolniana should have in his library . Bookseller Inventory # 010434
