RE: Springfield Tour
It's been nice to read about and see the photo's of all the events in the DC area.
This fall, October 2-3, a Friday and Saturday, come to Springfield, IL and walk where Lincoln walked. There is something special about strolling in the early evening down the street where he lived. You can almost hear the children playing, the dogs barking, the coolness of the evening air, it can almost take you back over a 150 years ago. As the lights go on in his house as the sunlight fades to night, you feel like you could walk up to his front door and knock, and be greeted by Abraham, Mary, the kids and Fido. This year, we plan on taking the candle light tour of New Salem, the small village where Lincoln lived when he was in his early 20's. Here he made life long friends, studied law, went into debt, and maybe fell in love. It was a time that helped to shape his character. Another, almost magical place. It's not hard to imagine what his life might have been like here. His spirit lives on in these two special places. I hope you will take advantage of the opportunity to come and visit with us this fall. More info to come. If you have any questions, just send me an email or message. So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |
