RE: Lincoln and Civil War research is FUN!
Herb -
All the best to you, m'dear! Keep at it - the work and memories are well worth it all. It's a true blast, trust me! It'll help you keep your troubles at bay..... I find that the research (the "Chase" as I call it!) is often far more fun than the "find" or the "Kill" in the words of foxhunters.....although the find is often enough totally awesome! It's what keeps me going as well. I am "underemployed" and trapped in a hideous true dead-end job from which I cannot wait to escape in a couple of years. Until then, when asked what I do for a living, I say "historical research and writing." It's what keeps me going. My job just pays the bills and is nothing more than that. It is not a so-called "career" in any way, shape or form - my historical pursuits and computer/graphics are my career! It's the most fun I've ever had in my life and the memories and friendships I've made over all the years as well as all the "finds" we Boothies have accomplished in the past and now, are well worth the ride! "The Past is a foreign country...they do things differently there" - L. P. Hartley |
