RE: Ford's150 Information
Eva,
I'm in agreement with Susan and David - "anniversary" is a neutral term. I have been using "Commemoration of the 150th Anniversary..." in press releases, etc. And, I certainly hope that, after 150 years, no one is "celebrating" the death of Lincoln. There will be a mourning wreath on the door at Surratt House this week from April 15 through the 19th. If an unreconstructed visitor calls me on it, I will stay true to history and swear that a Yankee cavalry detail made me put up. Lord knows Southern Maryland was crawling with Union patrols 150 years ago this month. |
