RE: Lincoln and Owen Lovejoy
Owen had an older brother named Elijah, who is an interesting study. He was murdered in 1837 by a pro-slavery mob in Alton, IL (15 miles north of St Louis) where he was trying to defend his press and abolitionist writings. He was a newspaper editor and preacher. Interesting man. A large monument was built in his honor. http://www.panoramio.com/photo/44534107
I first read about the two when I was a teenager reading a science fiction time travel book called the Lincoln Hunters by Wilson Tucker. It's been a long time, but back then I thought it was good. It had a good story line http://www.amazon.com/Lincoln-Hunters-Wi...ln+hunters So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |
