I believe that the Confederate General Trimble mentioned in this piece was the grandfather of William Trimble, an official with Green Mount Cemetery in Baltimore who was instrumental in defeating the attempt to disinter Booth's remains in the 1990s.
If I remember correctly, General Trimble is buried very close to the Booth plot, and his grandson was concerned about the damage that would be done to that plot and others in the process of digging up Booth - especially with the media crews that would be all over the place. |
