What a great site! There is so much information there, over and above just the demi-parure of seed pearl jewelry. I had never seen a price tag attached to Mrs. Lincoln's inaugural gown - $2000! Has there ever been a complete description of the gown as to type of fabric, handwork, quality of lace, etc.?

Then to learn the history of pearl jewelry and where it originated. And, that early pearls were strung together with horsehair. Thanks so much, Eva, for this history lesson.
