You can buy Raintree County by Ross Lockridge. It was published in 1948. I have it in my library and read it years ago. It's better than the movie (books always are!) Unfortunately, Mr. Lockridge committed suicide shortly after writing it. A similar novel is Robert Penn Warren's Band of Angels. I read that one years ago also.
