Looks like Mr. Lincoln got an especially good deal, Eva. Of course the best carriage deal he got was the free dark green monogrammed carriage he got from a group of New York merchants just before his second inaugural -- the one he road to Ford's Theatre. It had solid silver lamps, door handles and hubcaps, and the steps were connected to the doors so they would drop when the doors opened and rise when the doors were closed. A very sweet ride.
