It's out of my hands
Today, at 9:43 a.m., I sent my book proposal to the University of Illinois Press. I braved the nearly one foot of snow we got Thursday night and Friday morning and walked to the post office to deposit the package in person. Now comes the waiting.
I want to thank everyone who has suffered through my postings on Ida Tarbell and especially Tom Bogar and Liz Rosenthal for reading the proposal and making excellent suggestions on how to improve it. Also, to Roger Norton for creating this site which has allowed me to meet some of the nicest and most intelligent people in the Lincoln community (even Bill and Gene ). Plus, I would be remiss if I didn't thank Joe Di Cola for being the best unknown father a boy could ever have. Keep your fingers crossed! Best Rob Abraham Lincoln is the only man, dead or alive, with whom I could have spent five years without one hour of boredom. --Ida M. Tarbell
I want the respect of intelligent men, but I will choose for myself the intelligent. --Carl Sandburg
