Trip to Gettysburg for the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address

Eva - thank you for the "piece of art", it shall remain then! I could not get it fixed!

Rob - I have noticed quite a few german names and was rather surprised by that! Before I left for trip, a friend had also sent me an article about Ludwig Blenker (he later renamed himselfs Louis) who had a full page report in our sunday paper!

I'm on the board of advisers for The Lincoln Forum and used to attend every year's conference. Leg issues now prevent that, but I do miss seeing so many of the 300+ Lincoln enthusiasts that gather in Gettysburg each year -- and I miss freezing to death at the cemetery ceremonies!

While we can't match the pageantry of the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, for some plain old historic fun with a great group of somewhat normal people, plan on joining us for the Lincoln Nerds return trip to Springfield next October.

Gene, I am SO tempted! I visited Springfield earlier this year and still have so much to see there!
