Bill, Another time when the Lincoln Memorial served as a great venue for an event was when The D.A.R. would not allow the great contralto Marian Anderson to sing at Constitution Hall (the D.A.R. venue) and Eleanor Roosevelt arranged for the concert to occur on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
