I was web surfing and came across something from 2008 pertaining to this thread. The Jack Miller Center had asked Allen Guelzo for his top five Lincoln books as the Lincoln Bicentennial was approaching. See what you think of his picks: 1) Abraham Lincoln by Benjamin P. Thomas; 2) The Inner World of Abraham Lincoln by Michael Burlingame; 3) Honest Calling: The Law Practice of Abraham Lincoln by Mark E. Steiner; 4) The Young Eagle: The Rise of Abraham Lincoln by Kenneth J. Winkle; and 5) Crisis of the House Divided: An -interpretation of the Issues in the Lincoln-Douglas Debates by Henry V. Jaffa.
