It is all I can do to lift The Evidence! We suspect that Ficklin was the person who promised Isaac Surratt an express job in early 1861 that caused him to leave Surrattsville and head west. Many authors have said that Isaac worked for the Pony Express, but he did not.

If I remember correctly Benjamin Franklin Ficklin was from one of the First Families of Virginia, and later purchased Monticello.
