What will you read in 2013?
Just curious as to your reading plans for 2013. I haven't made a firm decision on what Lincoln-related material I will read, but I do plan to start Robert Caro's multi-volume biography of Lyndon Johnson. I also would like to read an upcoming biography of Dumas Malone, biographer of Thomas Jefferson, which is due out at the end of this month.
Lincoln-related possibilities are forum member Mike Burkhimer's book on Lincoln's religion as well as Freedom National by James Oakes, a new work on slavery. It's been a long time since I read any of James G. Randall's books, so I'm thinking about his four-volume Lincoln the President. Of course, much of the year will be devoted to Tarbell, but I'm bound and determined to go over and above that. Best Rob Abraham Lincoln is the only man, dead or alive, with whom I could have spent five years without one hour of boredom. --Ida M. Tarbell
I want the respect of intelligent men, but I will choose for myself the intelligent. --Carl Sandburg
